Location: Southwold (Hybrid: 3 days per week)

The Role

As CFO, you'll be the financial compass of Adnams, working together with the CEO and senior leaders to navigate the company back to robust financial health. This role is a blend of strategic vision and hands-on involvement, leading a small but dedicated finance team. You'll be as comfortable discussing numbers in the boardroom as you are chatting with the team in the brewery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Guidance: Offer clear financial advice to the CEO, Board, and senior leaders, helping steer the company’s direction.
  • Strategic Projects: Lead and implement key projects across the business that add real value while keeping risks in check.
  • Financial Controls: Ensure our internal financial controls are solid, effective, and followed by everyone.
  • Risk Management: Keep an eye on potential risks and manage them proactively to safeguard our future.
  • Investment Oversight: Approve capital spending as agreed by the Board, ensuring our investments are sound and benefit our shareholders.
  • Bank Relations: Lead discussions with our bank and manage debt-raising activities when needed.
  • Business Partnering: Act as a strategic financial partner to the Board, senior leaders, and managers, providing insightful advice, analysis, and reports.
  • Budget Management: Oversee a rigorous budgeting process and deliver accurate financial information throughout the year.
  • Performance Review: Review monthly financial performance and suggest actions to keep the business on track and aligned with our goals.
  • Process Integrity: Ensure all financial processes are robust, efficient, and fit for purpose.
  • Best Practices Champion: Promote good business practices and gain the support of senior managers and directors.
  • Team Development: Build the finance team's skills and credibility, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Leadership: Exemplify outstanding leadership in line with Adnams' values, encouraging collaboration and high engagement.
  • IT Oversight: Lead and support the IT team, ensuring our technology strategy meets current and future business needs.
  • Investor Relations: Present company accounts to investors and the market alongside the Chair and CEO.
  • Audit Management: Manage relationships with our auditors to ensure transparency and compliance.

Who We're Looking For

  • Manufacturing Experience: A finance professional with experience in manufacturing, brewing, or FMCG sectors.
  • Turnaround Expertise: Proven success in guiding companies through financial turnarounds.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leader capable of influencing and engaging teams at all levels.
  • Hands-On Approach: Willing to dive into the details and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Strategic Thinker: Able to see the big picture while managing day-to-day financial operations.
  • Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent with significant senior finance experience.

Location Commitment: Ready to be based in Southwold for at least three days per week.

Remuneration:

  • A basic salary of between £150,000 and £175,000.
  • Benefits to include a car allowance, performance related bonus and long-term incentive package.
